The Republic of Congo has developed an official ICT policy co-ordinated by the Committee for the Promotion of Information Technologies in Congo (COPTIC). One of the priorities is to set up a national plan for ICT infrastructure, the lack of which, along with the high cost of computer products and services, is hindering the development of ICT applications in several social sectors, including education. This survey mentions the most important factors for implementing ICT in education combined with the guidelines of ICT policy and basic information about the education system and the Congolese country profile.

CO-OPERAID is a non-profit, politically and confessionally independent humanitarian Swiss association with its headquarters in Zurich. The association was founded in 1981. CO-OPERAID is active in the field of education and professional education. Its projects help impoverished children and young people in a current total of seven countries in Africa and Asia: Uganda, Kenya, Congo, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Thailand and the Philippines. The aim of these projects is basic education for all children and the promotion of secondary and vocational education. At the same time the economic situation of the children’s and young people’s families is improved. A special focus is put on the promotion of girls and women.

The area of operation of the IPD-AC ranges over 13 countries of Central Africa; Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, the Comoros, Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the People’s Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe and the Chad. The mission of IPD-AC is to foster these countries through the support of the capacities in development institutions and in the fields of formation, succor/council and research and innovation.

AFRISTAT is an international organization created by a treaty signed September 21, 1993 in Abidjan by the 14 African member countries of the franc zone. At present (march 2011) the organization counts 19 members. The organization provides the activities of national statistical offices in member states. AFRISTAT also promotes regional and economic integration by aiming for consistency and better comparability of statistical data. Furthermore it supports national statistical offices in data collection and processing. Its work covers the following areas: the organization, the administration of statistical systems and national accounts. But besides all those facts the website offers a diversity of topics such as graphics of the international markets, or recent statistics or the agenda dossier which is available without any charge. *** AFRISTAT est une organisation internationale créée par un traité signé le 21 septembre 1993 à Abidjan par les 14 pays africains membres de la Zone Franc mais maintenant (mars 2011) il y a 19 membres. Avec la mission de contribué au développement des statistiques économiques, sociale et de l`environnement dans les Etats membres et de renforcer leurs compétences dans ces domaines ils ont aussi le rôle de conseiller les Instituts nationaux de statistique et de soutenir leur action. Le siège est a Bamako au Mali. De plus, le site web informe sur ses activités comme les séminaires sur la conjoncture économique ou sur les statistiques données.
