This full text published by Ilo Trajkovski bears the heading „Education for Peace, Stability and Democracy in the Republic of Macedonia ( FYROM)“. It is one of the country reports from the series „Education and Media in Southeast Europe“. The text is subdivided into four main sections: 1. The Normative Commitment of Macedonian Educational Reforms to Peace, Stability and Democracy; 2. The Curricula and Textbooks: First Challenge for Macedonian-European Educational Co-Operation and Integration; 3. Teacher training and teaching practice; 4. The Structural and Political Conditions of Educational Activities for Peace, Stability and Democracy in Macedonia.

„At a glance: Macedonia“ provides a summary of social issues in this country, including health and education. According to the mission of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) – as the leading advocate for children’s rights – an analysis of the current situation of young children is given. Statistical data refer among others to primary school attendance and adult literacy.

This website has been developed as a result of cooperation between the University of Ljubljana CEPS and KulturKontakt Österreich in the framework of the South East European Educational Cooperation Network. The web pages contain various core documents on education in Macedonia. Some are only available in pdf-format. They are subdivided into the following categories: Basic information and databases; National policy documents; Good practices; Legislation; Reviews and reports; Curricula; Expertise and theory.

The Austrian Development Agency in this report publishes in May 2007 presents key figures and projects in the sphere of education.

The database informs about scholarships and grant opportunities from various organisations for students and graduates from South East Europe. It comprises programmes offered by funding organisations worldwide. The database is part of the Western Balkan Countries INCO-NET. This initiative enhances integration of the Western Balkan countries (WBC) in the European Research Area. It is supported by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.

The homepage provides link lists and addresses of all educational institutions in the higher education, professional training (colleges for specific professions) and adult education sector which accept international students. Especially, language schools are listed. Furthermore, there is a link „country resources“ with general information about the country.

This website includes state-of-the-art reports on the development of adult education in seven countries in Southeast Europe.- The EBiS Project ( EBiS: Erwachsenenbildung in Suedosteuropa) has been initiated and co-ordinated by IIZ/ DVV, Bonn with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ) under the terms of the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe. The project will help to make best use of adult education (AE) opportunities and approaches in this part of Europe.

The Western Balkan Countries INCO-NET enhances integration of the Western Balkan countries (WBC) in the European Research Area. The initiative is supported by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. The Western Balkan countries INCO-NET will assist in developing the relationship between the EU and the WBCs in the area of science and technology (S&T). This project will last from 2008 to 2011, supporting the Steering Platform on Research for the Western Balkan countries in the facilitation of interaction between the Western Balkan countries, the EU Member States, states associated to the Framework Programmes for RTD and the European Commission. It is a strategic body designed to deal with European, multilateral and regional issues of science and technology policies in and with the WBCs.

The Cluster of Knowledge on Vocational Education and Training & the South East Europe Regional VET Network (SEEVET-Net) are networks of the Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe (ERI SEE). They organise annual meetings whose presentations and results can be found on the website. Under „Library per SEE Countries“ you can find legal regulations for the vocational education and training of the respective countries as well as further documents on different VET issues. ERI SEE was created in 2004. Its governing board consists of the education ministers of the particpating South Eastern European countries.

In the framework of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research ( Braunschweig/ Germany) developed a project aiming at the „Coordination of Textbook Research, Development and Textbook Comparison in South-East Europe“. The establishment of a virtual South-East Europe Textbook Network, which started in February 2001, is an integral part of this project. The Network is bound to a regional partner, the Philosophical Faculty of Zagreb University/ Croatia. One of the main aims of this Network is the development of institutionalised, durable possibilities for research and cooperation within and with the region. Up-to-date information on initiatives and results of the textbook situation from different countries as well as from the whole region make the Network a focus point of textbook research in South- East Europe. Along these lines the network carries out several tasks and services which will be gradually available in a medium term perspective: 1. Database (teaching materials, scientific literature on textbook research and relevant documents on education policy), 2. Information on Projects ( qualified information on ongoing projects and initiatives on textbook research and development in South-East Europe) 3. Networking and Coordination (database with links to institutions and organisations which are active within the international and regional framework of textbook research).
