Das Projekt ergänzt Forschungen des DIE zu Aspekten grüner Industriepolitik sowie nachhaltiger Innovationssysteme und Technologiepfade. Das Augenmerk liegt auf den Bedingungen für politische Allianzen, die den Prozess einer grünen Transformation festigen und beschleunigen können. Auf Basis von Länderstudien zu China, Deutschland und Südafrika sowie einer Regionalstudie zu Sub-Sahara-Afrika wird das Projekt erfolgreiche politische Maßnahmen erarbeiten, die als Basis für einen internationalen Lernprozess dienen können.

Das globale Umfeld für die Entwicklungsarbeit der Vereinten Nationen (VN) ist einem tiefgreifenden Wandel unterworfen, der mit Verschiebungen im wirtschaftlichen und politischen Machtgefüge einhergeht. Aufstrebende Mächte wie China gewinnen deutlich an Einfluss, der Globale Süden tritt selbstbewusster auf, und globale Krisen erfordern neue Entwicklungsansätze. Vor diesem Hintergrund untersucht das Forschungs- und Beratungsprojekt sowohl das UN-Entwicklungssystem als Institution als auch den globalen politischen Kontext, in dem es agiert. Darüber hinaus werden Empfehlungen für die Gestaltung der Zusammenarbeit zwischen den VN und Deutschland als wichtigem Akteur und Befürworter des Multilateralismus identifiziert.
