She is a founding member of the Trinity River Audubon Center, was the chair of the Trinity Trust Board for the overall Trinity River Project (of which the Trinity River Audubon Center is the cornerstone), executive committee on the Dallas Museum of Art Board, and on the executive committee of the Dallas Zoological Society. She enjoys spending her time with her dog and at her ranch in North Texas.

As the coordinator, Brigit recruits new collaborators, conducts virtual trainings on protocol requirements, and ensures consistent data collection by monitoring incoming data on Wildlife Insights.

Mia Keady | Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute

Mia Keady is a graduate student researcher at the Center for Conservation Genomics. Keady studies the gut microbiome of captive elephants and the relationship to major health concerns in captivity. She is interested in how microorganisms affect the reproductive biology and overall well-being of elephants. Keady’s projects include: Elephant gut microbiome study Keady earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2014, and is currently working on her master’s degree at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University.
