Fernando G. Lopez is a conservation ecologist at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center, Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. He is interested in breeding ecology, migration behavior, and citizen science using raptors as study modelers. Lopez collaborates closely with his colleagues at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Morgan Bragg | Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute

Morgan Bragg is a graduate student researcher at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s Center for Conservation Genomics and Center for Species Survival. Bragg’s dissertation focuses on understanding the origins of gastrointestinal health issues in captive canid species. Dr. Farah Carrasco-Rueda | Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute

Farah Carrasco-Rueda is a biologist with a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the University of Florida.  Her research focuses on assessing the impacts of anthropogenic activities on biodiversity, mainly in the Amazon Region. She has carried out research in the Peruvian Amazon evaluating the impacts of human activities, including gas pipeline construction and agricultural activities, on biodiversity and ecological aspects of mammals (including bats, medium-sized and large mammals).
