‘Artworks‘, collection owner: Ithell Colquhoun, 1920s–1970s – Tate Archive | Tate

This series includes artworks created throughout Colquhoun’s career, as well as some examples of juvenilia, art-school and commercial work. There are a small number of finished, signed and titled works, but many have no title or date. The majority of works are in watercolour but there are also pastel drawings, pencil sketches, and (incomplete) collages. There are also some artworks created by children who were taught by Ithell. These can be found at TGA 929/4/8.

Available online is the whole of this collection of sketches by Keith Vaughan. This material covers the majority of Vaughan’s life including some of his early advertising work from the 1930s with the last sketch dating from 1976, a year before his death in 1977. Subjects include the male form, landscapes, and drawings of everyday life including some from his time in the Non-Combatant Corps during the Second World War. This series contains examples of Agar’s artwork including sketches, paintings and drawings. It also includes artworks created by Agar from found objects, one of her preferred working methods. There are several files of source material, including cut-outs and pieces of paper, which were presumably used in collages. In addition, this series includes tracings of rocks at Ploumanach used in Agar’s series of paintings on this theme.
