This collection of Eileen’s Agar’s photographs have all been digitised. Most of the photographs were taken by Eileen Agar and her husband, Joseph Bard on their trips abroad, and around the UK, from the 1930s up until around 1960. Subjects of the photographs include architecture, landscapes, and seaside towns and villages, along with portrait and group photographs of Eileen, Joseph, and their friends, including notable artists and fellow surrealists such as Man Ray, Paul Éluard and Pablo Picasso. This sub-fonds contains two diaries kept by Henry Scott Tuke, his paintings registers and papers relating to the sale of his art works, sketch books and artworks, photographs, correspondence by and to Henry Scott Tuke, artists‘ materials; interviews with people who knew Tuke recorded in the 1960s, and miscellaneous personal papers, exhibition catalogues and press cuttings. The sub-fonds also contains transcripts of and indexes for Tuke’s diaries and the paintings registers produced by the donor B.D. Price.
