Items available online are photographs taken by Nigel Henderson from the late 1940s to the mid 1950s. Included in this selection is an extensive series of images of the East End of London which Henderson shot between the late 1940s and early 1950s. This collection of images records aspects of one of London’s working class communities and covers events such as celebrations for the 1953 Coronation of H.M. Audio Arts was a cassette based magazine, which sought to document contemporary artistic activity by recording artists‘ voices, established by William Furlong and Barry Barker in 1973. The magazine was in continuous publication for thirty-five years, producing twenty-five volumes of four issues each, and a large number of supplements, featuring exclusive contributions from more than nine hundred individual artists including Joseph Beuys, Ian Breakwell, Tracey Emin and Andy Warhol. The volumes and supplements published by Audio Arts have been digitised and made available online, thanks to generous funding from the Rootstein Hopkins Foundation. Available to view online are a selection of items from the personal papers of Ben Nicholson including writings, correspondence and photographs. The manuscripts that have been selected have been written by Nicholson over a large time frame, spanning from the mid 1930s to the early 1980s and cover Nicholson’s thoughts on his own art and other artists. The digitised correspondence is between Nicholson and his father, William Nicholson. This sub-fonds contains the diaries kept by Thomas Cooper and Caroline Gotch, letters written between members of the Gotch family and general business correspondence written to and by Thomas Cooper and Caroline Gotch.
