“Air taxis are coming soon” | Max-Planck-Gesellschaft

https://www.mpg.de/12746254/air-taxis-are-coming-soon?c=11965788

Major urban centres are being visibly choked by traffic, which is why, as early as 2025, passenger transport, particularly in megacities, could move into the third dimension with the aid of small aircraft used, for example, as air taxis. This is the conclusion reached in a study carried out by business consultants Horváth & Partners. We talked to Heinrich H. Bülthoff, retired director at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, about the current study, the steps that are still required for personal aviation and the findings from the myCopter project.

The Sunrise III solar observatory has been successfully launched. On July 10, 2024, it took off from the Esrange Space Center balloon and rocket base near Kiruna in Sweden on a helium balloon into the stratosphere. Stratospheric winds are now carrying the solar telescope along the Arctic Circle over the Atlantic Ocean to Canada. The telescope will study the active surface of the sun.

„Deliberate ignorance can be understood as a cultural skill“ | Max-Planck-Gesellschaft

https://www.mpg.de/16834860/interview-deliberate-ignorance?c=12641052

We live in a knowledge society in which science and education is of particular importance. But under certain circumstances, we all benefit from deliberate ignorance. The Max Planck directors Ralph Hertwig and Christoph Engel explain why deliberately foregoing information in certain areas should even be prescribed and taught.
For a fair trial it is therefore paramount to make sure

At the COP26 world climate conference in Glasgow, the signatory states were able to reach an agreement after lengthy discussions.
