SIU ist ein norwegisches Kompetenzzentrum, dessen Ziel die Teilnahme norwegischer Bildungs- und Forschungsinstitutionen an internationalen Kooperationen ist. Das norwegische Zentrum für Kunst und Kultur im Bildungswesen ist eine Organisation, die zur Stärkung der Arbeit in Kunst- und Kulturthemen in der Primärbildung und im Sekundärbildung beiträgt. Es wurde vom norwegischen Ministerium für Bildung und Forschung im Jahr 2007 gegründet. Seine Hauptaufgaben sind die Entwicklung von Aktivitäten im Zusammenhang mit dem nationalen Lehrplan, die Unterstützung bei der Umsetzung von Aktivitäten und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit dazu. Das Zentrum entwickelt und verbreitet unterstützendes und beratendes Material sowie Forschungsergebnisse auf dem Gebiet der Förderung von Kunst und Kultur im Unterricht. Darüber hinaus unterstützt das Zentrum den Hochschulbereich bei der Kompetenzentwicklung. Die Zielgruppe sind Lehrerausbilder, Lehrer, Leiter und Mitarbeiter in Kindergärten und Schulen, Kindergarten- und Schulbesitzer sowie pädagogische und psychologische Beratungsdienste.

The Norwegian Centre for Arts and Culture in Education is a resource centre helping strengthen work in art and culture subjects in primary and secondary education. It was established by The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research in 2007. Its main tasks are the development of related activity to the national framework and teaching plan, support to the implementation and public relations. The centre develops and spreads supportive and advisory material and results from research conducted in the field of the promotion of arts and culture. In addition, the centre assists the university and university college sector in its competence development. Their target group are teacher educators, teachers, leaders and staff in kindergartens and schools, kindergarten and school owners and Educational and Psychological Counselling Service.
