In collaboration with the Curator of Invertebrate Zoology Dr. Ward Wheeler, Dr. Whiteley has been studying historical relationships among languages, beginning with Uto-Aztecan languages of Middle and North America, using genetic methods developed in the field of evolutionary biology.

Arthur Shaughnessy House Post Carvings Reinstalled Following Conservation Treatment | AMNH

In February 2012 four carved and painted house posts were reinstalled near the entrance of the Northwest Coast Hall. These pieces were part of an important multi-year project to undertake conservation treatments on nearly half of the 77 large scale carvings in the hall. The project was funded by generous grants from the Institute for Museum and Library services and the Stockman Family Foundation.
